Fire Science Degree

If you have aspirations of becoming a firefighter, you will need to learn about fire science. With a fire science degree, you will be presented with the opportunity to have a career that can be very rewarding and challenging. You will learn all you need to know about fires, how to prevent them, how to manage them once they have started, and how to lead and manage other firefighters who are working with you on a job. There is much to learn about fire, more than you may ever have realized, and an education in fire science will teach you all of it.

Degrees

• Associate of Applied Science: You will learn about fire protection and prevention in this program. You will also receive instruction on fire systems and how they operate. The behavior of fire will be studied, along with the ways to construct buildings to make them safe from fire threats. You will also be taught about water systems and fire department hydraulics.
• Bachelor in Fire Science: This degree will prepare you for performing a firefighter’s duties, including important instruction on the operation of firefighting equipment. You will also learn how to maintain equipment so that it will always be in good working condition. A Bachelor Degree will give you information concerning combustible liquids and other hazardous substances, including how they should be handled for fire safety. You will learn about the different kinds of fires that exist and how to perform fire rescue operations. Rules and regulations regarding fire safety will also be taught in this program.
• Master’s in Fire Science: A Master’s Degree will often be sought by individuals who are already firefighters or working with fire in some capacity and would like to increase their chances of getting a promotion and advancing to a higher level in their employment. With this program, you will learn leadership skills, how to work with and manage other employees, and how to make crucial decisions when a crisis arises. You will have excellent organizational skills after you have obtained a Master’s in Fire Science.
