Start Your Nursing Career Today

Have you always wanted to help people? Have you dreamed of beginning a career in professional nursing?

Today is never too late to start preparing for your online nursing degree. Numerous nursing degree programs are available. You can choose between online LPN degrees, or select from one of the many online nursing graduate programs.

The first distance learning nursing programs were correspondence courses that required students to travel regularly to one of several testing sites throughout the nation. These courses were self-study programs that offered students basic information about specialized areas of nursing. Students then went to a final testing site in one of six regions throughout the country to prove their clinical competencies.

Like medical technology, online nursing programs have come a long way. Many accredited colleges and universities now offer online programs. While most of these are designed to allow Registered Nurses complete a Bachelorís or Masterís Degrees in Nursing, a few entry-level programs for students who desire to become LPNs or RNs are offered.

Nursing students who opt for this route need to be sure that the programs are accredited. If they are not, students will not be able to take the state licensure exams to obtain their licenses. In addition, none of these classes would transfer to an accredited university.

One of the few recession-proof careers available today, the nursing profession offers aspiring professionals many opportunities for growth. Furthermore, many specialty areas are available. Nurses who are tired of working with surgical patients, for example, can work with those who have rehabilitation or educational needs.

If you are interested in becoming a nurse, consider the wide range of experiences open to you. You wonít lack for interesting, exciting chances to pursue your specialty interests. Additionally, you will never lack for work - and in todayís economy, this can be a critical consideration!
