Online-Courses: How to Speed Up Your Education

Taking online-courses can be an excellent way to complete your bachelors, graduate, or masters degree quickly. Distance education is useful because you can set your own schedule, whether that means planning around work or family commitments. If you prefer to do the majority of your work in the evenings or on weekends, it is feasible to do so. The same cannot be said for on campus courses, where there are simply too many students to allow for special accommodation.

If you need your MBA in a hurry, online study is the perfect solution. The emphasis is on individual study, so you can work at your own pace even on the graduate level for an online MBA. Most online undergraduate college degree programs take three to four years to complete. You can finish even faster if you take accelerated degree programs. However be sure that you have enough time to devote to an accelerated program, because they can be very intense. Remember online degree programs are flexible, not easy.

Most universities follow a two-semester cycle, which lasts for about 15 weeks per semester. By attending online you can take classes for 45 weeks, meaning that you continue to study throughout the summer break and during some other holidays. This enables you to earn more credits each year, and in turn, complete your degree much faster. In fact, students who enroll in accelerated online studies are often able to earn a four-year bachelor’s degree in as little as 2.5 years.

According to U.S. Census data, 68% of people in professional occupations hold a bachelor’s degree. In 2004, the U.S. Department of Labor found that those with a bachelor degree earn 62% more than those without bachelors degrees. So, the benefits of completing your degree are clear.

A college degree can help you to compete in an oversaturated job market, and it can help you to earn more money. The faster you complete your degree, the sooner you can graduate and be on your way to a job promotion or raise, or maybe even a whole new career. Job positions that require at least a bachelor’s degree are becoming more prevalent in society. Between 2001 and 2006, these jobs increased by 18.8%, which is more than any other category of jobs. Furthermore, between 1970 and 2006, the number of bachelor degree holders aged 25-64 more than doubled. These statistics indicate that employment is becoming more and more linked to formal education and qualifications.

While life experience is a wonderful attribute, it is probably not going to be enough to snag that dream job. Today you need a degree just to compete for an entry level job in the job market. Needless to say, the better qualifications you have, the better off you will be. For example, university instructors are able to secure tenure more easily if they have a doctorate (Phd) degree. Otherwise, it is difficult to be anything more than a contract employee of the university. The good news is that you can now get a PhD online.

An additional tip to complete your degree faster is to make sure that the college you enroll in recognizes any past credits you have earned. There is no question that some colleges will allow you to transfer in more credits than other colleges.

Twenty years ago the no one would think to get a degree online, in fact they would not even know what that mean.
